Symptoms:
- Chronic diarrhea (often with blood)
- Abdominal pain and fatigue
- Weight loss and anaemia
- Joint pain or skin rashes (extraintestinal symptoms)
Diagnosis:
- Colonoscopy with biopsy
- Blood tests and fecal calprotectin
- Imaging such as MRI Enterography or CT scan
Treatment:
- Anti-inflammatory medications (5-ASAs, steroids)
- Immunomodulators or biologics for moderate to severe cases
- Nutritional support and anaemia management
- Regular monitoring for colon cancer risk in long-term cases
