Symptoms:

  • Chronic diarrhea (often with blood)

Diagnosis:

  • Colonoscopy with biopsy
  • Blood tests and fecal calprotectin
  • Imaging such as MRI Enterography or CT scan

Treatment:

  • Anti-inflammatory medications (5-ASAs, steroids)
  • Immunomodulators or biologics for moderate to severe cases
  • Nutritional support and anaemia management
  • Regular monitoring for colon cancer risk in long-term cases
